My son turned two this weekend Yay! Being two he really only has one friend, but I still went all out from cake to balloons and special wrapping paper. this year we went with a Mario theme, and you would be surprised just how easy it was.
The balloons, were the easiest part. Green with white polka dots, for yoshi eggs and white balloons, that I painted to look like king boo. To paint a balloon is as easy as painting paper the thing is make sure you get good paint or the paint peels off before the party even begins.
King boo was a simple paint job too, he as a curvy eyebrow like the birds we all drew as kids, two oval eyes, and a mouth with triangle teeth. I added a red tongue and used crayola paint which stuck to the balloon really well.
I also made a banner, and chopper plant. the banner was so simple, First, I went Avery and designed and printed the letters. Next, I found a feel banner printed one letter to use as a template. Lastly, I punched holes glued the letters and tied it all together.
The chopper plant was a red plate with the center cut out, and a triangle cut out of that center for the mouth. Construction paper made the pipe and the teeth. I have to admit I forgot the lips, but it still looked good.
So as I said earlier I also wrapped the presents in a special way. One present was a brick, anther was a pipe with a Mario toy on top, the last was a mystic cube. For the first present I used a paper grocery bag, and a red envelope that one of his b day cards was sent in. A little mod podge and with rectangles and you have the Mario cube. I placed a crocheted Mario Grow bigger mushroom on top. I cannot give you the pattern do to copyrights laws, but it is for sell in my esty shop.
The mystic cube was wrapped in yellow tissue paper That I found at the dollar store, and a printed question mark. I cut the question out and taped on to the box. I also placed a mushroom on top of it only it was a 1 up. I personally love how it turned out.
The pipe was just some green paper I had lying around. with a extra piece across and a Mario; it looked like Mario on the way to world two. So Fun. I admit that I bought our cake, because I simply do not like decorating cakes right before a party. Since he was two I did not actually do any games; however I will post some ideas at a later date.
I love to create things. Something about looking at my wall or the bow in my daughter's hair and knowing "I made that" Just excites me. There are so many projects out that look easy enough, but nobody tells you how to make it. I am here to change that. I will give you step by step directions to make things with stuff you may already have. I will even post things that your children can make or that your husbands will enjoy. All you do is read along, and you too will become Crafty @ Heart.
